Ohio St. and Michigan were off this week after their terrific game two weeks ago. But there will be no rematch in the BCS title game. They would be the most deserving title clash, though certainly not the only valid matchup. Ohio St.’s QB Troy Smith is a no brainer for the Heisman Trophy this week. Florida beat a tough Arkansas club with their best and most impressive win of the season. They are the only other club with a claim to the title game and were voted to meet Ohio St. for the national title. Louisville completed a tremendous season with a strong win over Connecticut that wins them the Big East title. Their offene can tag 50 points on any defense in the nation. LSU is the best 10-2 club I have even seen. They will give any team a battle in the postseason. Wisconsin finished 11-1 but their soft schedule keeps them out of the top 5 clubs. West Virginia won a classic from Rutgers in triple overtime. They finished with a 10-2 record and a major bowl invite. USC played up and down to the competition all season and got ambushed by cross town rival UCLA. It was the Bruins best win in a decade. Notre Dame finished their season at 10-2 and hopes to redeem themselves in the high profile Sugar bowl game vs LSU. Oklahoma beat Nebraska in the Big 12 title. They finished 10-2 including a terrible call vs Oregon in a 1 point loss. They are dangerous in the postseason. Auburn is waiting for a major bowl after a strong 10-2 season. Rutgers lost a heartbreaker to W.Va. that leaves them at 10-2 for their best season in years. Boise St. completed an undefeated season, though it was against a very soft schedule with few challenges. Va Tech has recovered from two midseason losses and is peaking for the postseason. Wake Forest wins the ACC title with a tough victory over Ga. Tech. They completed a remarkable turnaround season and go to the Orange bowl. Arkansas lost the SEC title game, their second defeat in a row. They finished 10-3 in a major turnaround season, rebuilding with a young club that bores well for the future.
